Phoex

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Orientation Hall

All students first find themselves in this hall when enrolling at Phoex. The Orientation Hall (given the nickname 'The Orient' by the students of the academy) is the largest building on academy campus. An elaborate golden arch adorns the entryway, with a floor of tiled marble inside. The building is built of marble, with intricate murals painted on the walls that depict various people, Pokemon, and contests. The building itself has a very large floor, but the ceiling is only approximated to be about eight feet high at its highest point. The inner roof is shaped in a half cylinder, with beams the same gold as the entryway adorning the rafters. Here, a student arriving at Phoex will receive a brief rundown of how things work at the academy, and will receive a partner Pokemon (courtesy of the Alinia Pokemon Laboratory, coincidentally) that they will learn and compete with while both at the academy and after leaving.

No New Posts East Wing

The East Wing is home to all of the classrooms of Phoex. Marble columns spaced evenly all the way down the lengthy hallway make up the inner walls; this is made to provide easy access to the courtyard, as it is often used during classes for hands-on demonstrations. The halls outside the classrooms are wide to accommodate the vast amounts of students that occupy Phoex at all times. The classrooms are approximately square, with a ceiling height of eight feet. All classrooms at Phoex are designed the same way: Three rows of tables seating two students each, with five tables in each row so that the classroom may accommodate up to thirty students at any one moment. In the front of the room is a large teacher's desk, on the wall behind which is a large white board that spans almost the whole wall. To the left and right of the white board are two windows that are usually left open, with the warm semi-tropical climate of the academy's location.

No New Posts West Wing

Following the hallway from the East Wing, one might find themselves in the West Wing, which houses the dormitories of the students staying at the academy. This building is made up of two floors; the bottom floor being the boys dormitories, and the top floor being the girls dormitories. The staff dormitories are not located here; in fact, none of the students really know where they are. The dormitories are all very similar, though some may have a few things moved here and there. All dormitories have four rooms: a main room, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. The main room comes furnished with a couch and two small faux plants placed in the far corners on small cherry wood corner tables. A small tv sits on a stand made of cherry wood to match the corner tables, providing channels that the staff of the school find helpful or important to the students. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed with white sheets and pillows, accompanied by a small nightstand. In the girls dormitories, a small vanity can also be found in each bedroom. Each bathroom has marble-tiled floor and white-washed walls, with a mirror above the sink and a shower offering a sliding door. Altogether, not bad accommodations for the students of Phoex.

No New Posts Cafeteria

The cafeteria is a large building, though it is much longer than it is wide. It is a simple building with two rows of tables accommodating four students each, with an aisleway down the center of the building. As one walks in the door, they may take a plate of food and find a seat farther in. There are two main lunch periods, though some students often stop in between classes to grab something to eat on their way to class. The cafeteria, like the courtyard, is a popular hangout for students who'd rather sit inside than outside. Though there are many windows, usually open, in the cafeteria, students hailing from colder regions will enjoy it inside; the cafeteria, too, is made from marble.

No New Posts Courtyard

A large grassy expanse between the East and West Wings, many students often come to the courtyard to relax after classes or practice with their partner Pokemon. There is a small outdoor stage where all school performances and contests are held, where students have been given permission to practice if they wish to for any upcoming contests. Several large trees cast shade over the grass, making it also a popular place for students to sit and write letters to their family, any written assignments they might have for their classes, or just relax against the trunk of one of the massive trees. The courtyard is also the center of activity for the school, as it provides access to all areas of the Phoex campus; even the monorail station connecting the island on which Phoex was built to Gardelia Town in Alinia.

3 18
No New Posts Berry Orchard

Behind the academy, before the borders of the Surian Forest, is a large stretch of nothing but berry trees. This orchard is used for all purposes, though its major purpose is for some of the classes going on in the academy. Occasionally, the orchard also attracts a few wild Pokemon, though these are usually shooed away for fear of them eating too many of the berries. The orchard is separated into sections based upon the type of berry, and there are at least five trees of every kind of berry ripening at all times to make sure that the academy is never under-supplied with berries they might need.

No New Posts Monorail Station

Upon their graduation from Phoex, the graduating students are given a special item called the 'Monorail Pass', an item that allows them to board the monorail to Gardelia Town and begin their adventure in Alinia as a full-fledged coordinator. Of course, the monorail runs both ways - it also brings new students to Phoex to begin their education at the academy. The station itself is quite simple: a small building on the very outskirts of the island that can occupy only the attendant who mans it. A metal roof is built over the boarding platform, at which the monorail sits when it is not making the trip from Phoex to Gardelia or vice versa. The 'ticket man' is actually quite lonely; those who take a few minutes to talk to him will find him quite personable. He even gives out spare items sometimes! How nice of him.

Island of Aleus

Board Threads Posts Last Post
No New Posts Azzurra Pond

This crystal clear Pond is the only source of freshwater on the island. The Pond is preferred by some water Pokemon because of the clear, fresh springs that feed it water not filled with salt. This is a great fishing spot for certain Water dwellers, and even for finding other Pokemon who come to drink from the Pond. This is a popular place for trainers to train due to the sublime and peaceful nature of this area.

No New Posts Palenmi Beach

This beach stretches the coast of the island of Aleus. With the semi-tropical climate of the island, many Pokemon thrive here on the warm sands and in the clean ocean waters. Many students of Phoex are often found on the shores in their spare time, trying to capture some of the wild Pokemon who make their homes there. Water Pokemon are the most abundant here, though many other types of Pokemon are seen running about at different hours of the day. Some are even so personable, they come running when they see people with food!

No New Posts Surian Forest

Behind Phoex, on the far side of the island, grows the massive trees of Surian Forest. It is constantly teeming with life at all hours of the day, and is one of the best places in the world to find Fire Pokemon in abundance. The canopy above lets little rain through, leaving it dry and serene all times of the year. For those entering the forest in search of Pokemon: always watch out above you. The bug Pokemon in the forest have an annoying tendency to fall out of the trees, and if they fall from high enough, they'll leave a nasty bump on some unfortunate individual's head.

No New Posts Lowland Swamp

On the eastern side of the island, the land dips downward, and over the years, much of the rain water from the wet season has gathered and created a large swamp out of the lowlands. Fire Pokemon tend to avoid the swamp at all costs, but Water, Grass, and even a few Ground Pokemon are seen wallowing in the dank waters. However, the ground here is very unstable, so those who choose to come here are advised to choose their path carefully to avoid falling into the murky swamp. In this swampy area, but still on the more solid ground nearer the academy, is a large hole in the ground that resembles the entrance to a tunnel. Where does it lead?

No New Posts Abandoned Escape Tunnels

Long ago, during the horrific war of Alinia, the people of Aleus created a set of escape tunnels so that if anything ever happened to the monorail or the island, they could escape under the water back to the mainland. However, now that the war has long since ended, the escape tunnels have become abandoned. That is, except for the Pokemon living there. The dark tunnels have become infested with Ghost and Poison type Pokemon, scaring the wits out of most people who see the entrance in the swamp and try to enter. A few Rock type Pokemon even roam the tunnels, but one is likely to run screaming when a Gastly appears behind them before they see a Geodude wandering about. However, the tunnels are one of the best places to catch Ghost Pokemon, so if one dares tempt fate, it would be wise to attempt a capture now.

No New Posts Kalieu Plains

Much like the courtyard of Phoex, the Kalieu Plains are a large grassy expanse with a sparse number of trees dotting the landscape. Vast types of Pokemon can be seen here when the rains aren't falling, but even then, many Pokemon still roam the tall grasses. Many people travel here with a visitor's pass from the mainland of Alinia just to see this magnificent plain, named for the woman who first discovered it: Maria Kalieu, the daughter of the first professor of Alinia.

No New Posts Aridian Desert

Even during the rainy season, this arid desert is extremely dry with hot temperatures during the day. Fire, Rock and Ground Pokemon live here, enjoying the temperatures and dryness. The desert is known for its lack of rain, although no one has really found the true reason it is so dry. No one really cares, though, because they love to hunt for the rare types of Pokemon found here, though the few that do come out here are the daring trainers that risk being exposed the high temperatures. At night, though, the air is cooler and more hospitable. This may be the best time to come.

No New Posts Phoex Factory

The school of Phoex needs to get its power from somewhere, right? This hydrogen-powered factory powers the whole island in a clean, efficient way. Electric and Steel Pokemon come here to enjoy the soothing magnetic forces released by the energy production. People are not usually here working on the factory since it requires little maintenance, and is almost abandoned because Phoex Academy is the only place using its power. Once in awhile trainers will scavenge the area for Pokemon.
